I think that most people do but won't admit it. Since you are anonymous here, can you be honest with yourself and admit it?

Sure I hold prejudices. I don't like bully's, I don't like simple minded people self serving people, I don't like people who try to shove their beliefs down my throat, I hate rap, I hate big baggy pants that hang over your butt and your underwear shows, I hate terrorist, I hate people who hurt animal senselessly, ...I guess that is enough for now. Everyone is prejudice to a certain extent.

Yes, I can.

Prejudice (noun): "A bias that prevents objective consideration of an issue or situation."

Now, I do have biases, like everyone else. But I've spent most of two decades actively working to be aware of my biases, so that I can take them into account in my thought processes. As a result, I don't prejudge people based on arbitrary characteristics. I don't force people to conform to assumptions that I make, and I don't refuse to accept reality when it contradicts those assumptions.

I also only deal with individuals, not arbitrary groups. And while I may have biases against individuals, those don't carry over just because those individuals share some traits in common with others.

Granted, it's because my brain works differently. I don't categorize people and assume everyone in the same category thinks or acts the same. In fact, I constantly run into problems because my brain doesn't categorize things the way many other people seem to do.

It's certainly more effort to have to deal with every situation uniquely and every person individually, but that's who I am.

Some people use prejudice to mean bias or preference. But it's not the same thing. Prejudice is being unwilling to accept that the individual in front of you doesn't have the attributes you assumed they would. Prejudice is having a bigoted judgment against an entire group of people that you're unwilling to change, or making final conclusions about people based purely on similarities in characteristics such as race or gender or religion or nationality.

I wish everyone could experience what it is like to not be able to lump people into arbitrary categories based on extraneous traits. I think the world would be a fundamentally different place if everyone simply dealt with everyone else as individuals.

Fortunately, being able to be non-prejudiced is a learnable skill.

I would like to say I hold no prejudices but in the heat of the moment I find that I do. I mean prejudices to all types of things not just race.

I hold prejudices against anyone that does not respect themselvew and others and do not respect our parks and streets and neighborhoods and cultural beliefs. Why should one part of society have to keep rebuilding what the other part tears up or destroys?

I will admit that I am prejudice against people who act better than other people even though they are not.

It took me many years to reach a point where I was almost devoid of prejudice. To undo years of conditioning.
I was almost there and then 911.To imagine a people who believe that freedom is oppressive and killing in the name of their "god" is good. and we are fair game. Is it prejudice to hate them and to realize their children are conditioned the same way. If that is what it means, then I am prejudiced.

No, because every single person on the face of this earth carries prejudice...whether it be religion, color or something as simple as the clothes a person wears.

I agree with you that everyone has some predjudices in them. Its about how each person deals with them. I attempt to treat everybody with respect reguardless of there race color or greed. Even if I have issues with them. And one should never judge an entire race on the actions of a few.
