I have an U .P.S through which power is fed to my computer. Is it
necessary to feed my U. .P. .S with power round the clock or is it
sufficient to swich the power supply ON whenever i need to operate my
computer

I don't think it's necessary. After you turn off your PC, leave the UPS on for a few hours, 2-4 hours should be OK (or more depending on the power rating of your monitor and CPU vs. the max VA rating of the UPS). If there are frequent power outtages in your area of your UPS switches to battery mode frequently, you may need to charge it up longer.

Your UPS is simply a battery pack that converts DC voltage to AC voltage for your computer.

It NEEDS to be plugged in and turned on AT ALL TIMES *IF* you want it to be able to supply power to your computer during "brown-outs", power outages.........


It uses the AC to keep the batteries charged....
