the only way to enjoy a movie in the theatre is to find a space, claim it as your own, and set up a mini feast after the lights go out. my hubs and i stuff my 1980's purse full of anything we might want and enjoy ourselves immensely. we once shared glasses of champagne.

No, I'm way too much a movie buff that I have to be sober when I watch a movie, especially at the theaters. My friend sneaks candy into the theater so he won't have to take out a loan from the bank to pay for the food in there, but I love popcorn from the theater. Extra butter and lots of salt. I try never to drink soda at the theater or one hour before I get there cuz I hate having to take a piss right in the middle of a movie, even if the movie sucks. I have to finish it and then I'll make a run for the bathroom.

I never sneak beer into a movie. Although sometimes I sneak food in, but I actually think you can bring your own food into some movie theatres, as long as it's not a 3 course meal. I know drive in theatres are VERY strict on this and do not allow booze (obviously) or food. I was at a drive in once and a group of teens were caught with beer and the police were brought in, and I think they were charged with drunk driving for being in the vehicle which was running at the time they were caught.

I sneak both. It does not depend on the movie. If the theater did not charge so much for the stuff they sell maybe I would not feel the need to sneak. As it is, and me being against corporate America, I sneak stuff in to almost every movie I see. The only thing I enjoy more is getting burnt copies of movies from my friends and drinking my beer and eating my pizza in the comfort of my own home. If Tom Cruise can't afford to go even crazier due to my piracy that's fine by me.

Food sometimes, but now that I have more money not very often. It does not depend on the move. It depends on poverty. That is my poverty. If I have no money I might go to a dollar movie. Take a big purse with some air popped pop corn and a soda. My friend and I had this joke we would fake cough and open our soda can at the same time.
My friend took in beer one time. He almost got caught. I think they knew because they asked him for ticket subs and he had to search all around in his jacket to retrieve them. It was hard to find them without showing the beer, but he mannaged. I brought a soda bottle one time to a play and accidentally kicked it down the room. It made a lot of noise, but it was at a loud point in the play and some other people afterwards thought it was part of the play when I asked them if they heard it.

It all depends on how rushed I am. If I am hungry and feel like a hotdog, then I buy there.
The prices are outrageous, so I usually try to eat before I go, unless I indulge in popcorn and soda. I never make popcorn at home so this is usually a treat for me.
But yes, I have snuck stuff in there.

I have never been a booze sneaker. Never thought to do that.
As for the food, it depends on the theatre. If we are paying $9.50 we have snuck in pop and candy, even corn.
As for budget place near me, I tend not to sneak stuff in. They give you limitless refills. I try to give them all the business I can given they are only charging $3.50 a flick. I want them to stay in business. (Oh, and one time I got busted with JuJu Bees. So now I am on the straight and narrow.)

When we were poor and my kids small, a movie for us as a family was a huge event. I did not want to put a damper on things so I visited the grocery store the day before and bought our favorite candies. I emptied these out into little baggies so there would not be as much noise. I stashed them in different compartments of my purse - and viola, during the movie all of us had a sweet treat, though we did buy popcorn. We each bought a penny paper cup for water. My now ex-husband never appreciated the effort. But my kids are college students and want to take their dates out to movies, they are able to find creative ways to stash candy, but like me, they still get the penny paper cup for water and they still buy the popcorn.

There's a Dollar Store next to my local movie theatre where I buy my snacky treats and drinky poos to sneak in. I'm not going to pay 12 bucks for a large popcorn, large drink, and a chocolate bar. Get real.
