Beilive it or not, goldfish can live 40 - 50 years. The tank must be in pristine condition 24/7 though, and usually they survive longer on there own with little or no other fish in the tank. The Bigger the tank the better. A healthy and happy average-sized adult goldfish requires at least 10 US gallons (38 L) of water and above in order to live even a small life. If you wanted your goldfish to live a a long long long life, you should buy him a big tank.

If your lucky a week. I have never had good luck with gold fish. If you are looking for a fish that will live for a while, I would pick another kind. Oscars live for a while.

Depends on how you care for it. Change the water and don't feed it too much and it can live for a long time.
