You can play both acoustic and electric songs on an electric guitar. Just get the clean sound out of your amp and it's awesome.

Acoustic is finger picking and just chords, but on electric guitar you can play all types of solos, which really develop your mind. And you can finger pick and everything.

It takes lots of talent to play hard rock, if it's not Green Day n sh-t. Zeppelin is amazing, as well as BLS.

Electric = motivation
Acoustic = boring

Why buy an acoustic guitar if you can only play acoustic songs, where as if you buy an electric, you can play all different types of music, INCLUDING acoustic songs.

You can play just about any type of music on an electric that you can play on an accoustic, just like others have said - even classical.

Here's a nice upbeat version of Canon on an electric, though it does sound kind of rock-ish in some parts:

This guy needs bit more practice, but it gives you an idea of what Canon sounds like on the electric without the support instruments:

One is only better than the other depending what kind of music you like to play or listen to... I'm pretty diverse. I listen to alternative and prefer to play songs you probably wouldn't recognize. Like "Greensleeves" and "Bells of Aberdovey" with acoustic just because it's smoother if you do it right.
An electric guitar obviously has more sound options though. simple as that. (In my opinion :-p )

They're not better - some of the best music ever made came off acoustic. Go acoustic first!

Who says??? Tell them that quite a bit of Rock Music has roots and influences in Classical and Gospel. Tell them it could lead to early retirement for them and affluent lives for you all ,which would enable them to do community service to benefit the country and the world. Peace.

tell em to quit being so ignorant and be a little more open minded about the music you wanna play. if your not planning to play hard rock tell them that. eletric guitar is used for so many kinds of music its not funny. tell that to em. and if you wanna play hard rock, tell em to quit being little pusses about it show em its your decision. the music industry is going to hell anyway.
