Parents can be really odd about this. My dad didn't want me to get my belly done, he say's it's not in our culture, referring to the fact that it is more within an Indian culture (which to be honest, I’m no that sure about) My mum didn't really have an opinion on it, she just didn’t want my dad getting upset-silly!
I was 15 I think, and being 15 when I had it done did not reflect on how I have turned out now I'm 20.
However, you could be really serious about it and remember why we have belly buttons...it's the one thing that connected us to our birth mothers, maybe it could be symbolic??

I think 16 is a good age or maybe 17, or 18. I got mine pierced when I was 17 but its up to you! (:

That is too young. Wait until you are at least 18 and have different influences in your life than the classmates you have now.

I wouldn't do it. I know someone who had it pierced as a teenager and when she was older and got pregnant the hole wouldn't close. As she got big the hole split and it's been really uncomfortable - not to mention awful looking. Maybe just use a clip on one?
