Arterial Blood Gas - It includes pH, pO2, pCO2, -HCO3, BE, and O2sat. It is extremely valuable to assess a patient's metabolic as well as oxygen/carbon dioxide status. There are new methods to measure oxygen using a device on a finger, but the gold standard is to draw and test a sample from the radial artery.

Arterial blood gas. It detects how much oxygen is going into the body and how much carbon dioxide is leaving the body. If the body is not getting enough oxygen, it can cause brain damage.
