Do we really need to ask the advice on what we the british parents want, most parents want to know if there is a person in the area that could harm our kids. or is it more of a trip for the boys yet another waste of my money as well as yours.

Spin. Nothing more than spin. It will get good headlines and detract the public from the UK Governments obscene refusal to call for Israel to stop bombing Lebanon.
PS There is no need to go to the US. This type of law should be passed automatically.

I doubt that is why the Minister is going. He's probably going to see how its set up and if there is special training for the police officers involved.
Maybe you should chill before you go off on a rant on something you know zip about.
Megans Law has been called into affect several times in just the last four years and each and every time those children were recoverd safely.
Persoanlly I would love to see it institued here too.

Do you mean 'Megan's Law'? Its a law that states that parents can go to the police station to see if there are any registered paedophiles living in their area. I guess a govt minister has gone to the states to see how it works?
Do they not have e-mail?
And the biggest threat to children and other vulnerable people comes from their own family rather than complete strangers. Its easy for parents to warn kids about stranger danger; difficult for some people to believe that their own brother, spouse or friend is an abuser.

it is my belief that they go to the states to see how the law works on a pratical level even though this is quite a futile measure as our system of sociaty is much diffrent to america and the way laws are enforced are also completly diffrent.
the most striking diffrence is innocent until proven guilty. with delays in the legal system this can mean leanthy waits for imformation to be made available which im my opinion gives more than enough time for these sick individuals in question to perpetrate more atrocities agaist individual or groups of children.

These people should not be near any kids,they should be sent to a desert island somewhere with hungry dangerous animals on it and given no weapons.
We do not need to ask anyone else how to deal with them.
It appears to be an incureable disease,these people who hurt children are simply the scum of the earth and deserve no human rights (just my humble opion of course) !

I agree with you totally , They do not need to travel the world,
The reason they DO IS IT`S FREE,
Free holidays free travel free food
All paid for Plus any expenses while there
If they had to pay for their own ,Flights Hotels Food etc etc,
Then no one would attend these meetings/JAUNTS.
It is all part of what has become known as THE GRAVY TRAIN,
Things you get for NOTHING because of what you do.
It`s an excuse /reason they do this.So they get the free holidays.
LOCAL Councilors do it ( town twinning )etc etc.
Social Services do it ( kids locked up in juvenile detention ) free holidays to HELP THE CHILDREN IMPROVE.
LOOK at the LABOUR DEPUTY PRIME MINSTER in the papers now
Free holidays, With gifts from BILLIONAIRES
LABOUR
The party of the POOR
The party of the WORKING CLASS
The party of the BILLIONAIRES
LABOUR MY ***
They all do it once they get a position in local authorities and above.
WASTE BILLIONS ON HOLIDAY JAUNTS
....................FREEBEES.................................
So it is not really for advice they do this
Its the FREEBEES they get out of it.

totally agree. I can kind of see why he needs to go to talk to judges legislators etc to find out in depth and to get a complete understanding of how the law works, but meeting megans parents was just a pointless publicity stunt.

I am not sure of your ques ton...here is the U.S. you can go to your local police dept. and get the information if there are registered child molesters in the neighborhood.
I wouldn't trust a Minister to tell me anything.......
