Radio waves and the Internet are two totally different media. The radio you can hear on the Internet has been processed so that it is digital data sent from a server to your PC. A shortwave radio depends on electromagnetic waves in a particular range of frequencies sent from an aerial and received by another aerial.

Well, most international shortwave broadcasters now will also stream their programing on the internet. Here is a list to get you started:

There is also a 3-30 mHz tunable shortwave receiver in I believe Sweden that you can subscribe to for a small fee. From your computer you can actually tune this receiver and hear everything accross the dial that that receiver is hearing in Sweden. It's kinda cool.

well, you can join a internet downloader, like mykazaagold, and download all your favorite songs, and movies, and listen to them while you are online, or offline.
