We've only had DSL since March and have never been able to search. When I called about it all I got was someone who could not speak English and a headache. The only way we can use the computer is if we know the exact email address.

How do you search? Do you use Microsoft internet explorer and just enter what you're searching for in the address bar? That can work...but generally will not.

Try using a search engine. Go to www.google.com you can enter what you're searching for on this site and google gives you different web sites that have what you're looking for.

Hope that helps

this may not be right but your browser may be trying to connect you only to sites it wants to show you, try changing your home page to something like yahoo itself and try your address line there or if it still wont work, put the main title of the net address in the search box and see what happens, if its still not doing it , dump dsl and get another provider.

That sounds odd. How exactly are you searching?

Have you tried google? yahoo? msn?

I probably would check for spyware installed just to be sure as I know some try to redirect you to their spam fake, useless search engines when you try to search.

Doesn't sound like a connection issue, more of a computer/browser/spyware issue.

Turn off your modem then right back on and wait till all green lights stop blinking and then reboot your computer. Your problem should now stop and you should be able to access in search..

If not, then:

Run the tool and then download the free spyware and virus protection programs:

Malicious virus removal tool:

Ad-Aware Free download:

That is ridiculous you either set it up wrong or very possibly the problem is with your provider which is a frequent problem if it is a small provider and you live out in the country...
