gas comes from crude oil, which comes from the ground, usually the middle east. alternative fuels are still being developed but there is not much money in them yet, and why would we avoid wars just because we can? the oil lobby is extremely powerful, and occupying iraq makes them happy, because it means WE control the oil, not iraq. it's all about the money, controlling oil gives us more power and oil companies more money, they then give lots of money to the politicians who helped them, allowing the politicians to stay in office, it's really not that hard, it's all about power and money

our fuel mostly comes from Canada, Africa and south America.
if we went totally bio fuel and alt fuel a gallon of diesel would be $9 and a gallon of ethanol would be $15.
the land used to supply our bio fuel needs is currently being used to grow food and animal feed crops. so if we started using soybeans to make bio diesel and corn to make ethanol we would drive up food costs something like 1000%
the end result......we would have to invade and take over Mexico, central America, south America and Canada to be able to sustain our current levels of energy consumption......more war
