No, it is not wrong, but be carefull what you buy. Make sure it is something appropriate for her. Do you know her likes and dislikes? Also, are you trying to impress her or your boyfriend? Or are you trying to gain her acceptence? If you are buying her a gift for a special occation, there is nothing wrong. If there is no special occation, what is the reason for the gift? Be careful not to have your intentions misinterpeted. If you are doing it out of the kindness of your heart and you really like her, make sure you include a note with the gift. I have seen it too many time when the girlfriend or boyfriend makes friends with the others parents and when problems occure, the parents are pulled into the mess.
Do it for the right reasons and not for selfish reasons.

Take care

Wrong? No, probably not. But make certain it is appropriate. Don't get her some book she'll never read, for example.
You may want to clear it with your bf if you think it will upset him.
I'm sure it is usually ok to give gifts, most people worry about not getting a gift. If you are attending a party in her honor, you should probably get her something.
As always, do not be offended if you do not get a gift when it is your birthday. Gifts are meant to be given to enrich someone's life, not in order to receive something in return. That doesn't seem like it will be an issue in your case.
Some people are very crafty or have a skill. When they give a gift to someone that is relatively unknown to them, it should just be accepted for what it is: a token of esteem.

It depends on the occasion. Out of the blue screams "suck up", as a thank you for something a small gift would be considerate, a birthday present (especially if you were invited to the party or gathering) would be rather expected, although you may also want to consider taking your boyfriend shopping to pick out a present together to give to her with both of your names. Holidays are a must. Don't necessarily expect a gift in return though, and make sure your intentions for giving the gift are honest ones.

I don't think it's wrong at all. If you were to go to someone else's home for dinner, it's customary to bring a gift or something that goes with the meal as a thank you.
If it's for a special occasion that would be fine as well. Don't buy her a gift to impress her though. Mom's see right through that.

not if you are trying to kiss up to her. Iv'e done it plenty of times and gotten gifts in return. It makes break-ups a family affair.

I would ask your boyfriend what he thinks of it. If he's ok with it, then go ahead. He probably knows her well enough to know how well it will be received.
