Pokemon Gold/Silver EGG Problems?

Question

I was using a GameShark to infect my Pokemon with the PokeRus after discovering the benefits of it(I've used the code before without realizing what PokeRus did), but instead of having a Pokemon in the first slot of my party, I had a close-to-hatching EGG. I didn't think the code would hurt it after I realized I had forgotten to move the EGG, but when I checked on its stats, the message went from the EGG making sounds and being ready to hatch to something along the lines of "This EGG needs a lot more time to hatch."

Has anyone else gotten this message or know if it's ever going to hatch? I've already gone nearly the entire map of Johto a good 7 or 8 times to get other EGGs close to hatching and the same message remains. I'm hoping what I have isn't an EGG glitch, but if it won't hatch, I want to know before I waste more effort on it. Too bad I can't remember what was supposed to hatch.

just keep it in your party. i think my friend did somthin like this w/out the Shark, and he got a water/air gengar that was almost invincible with 2 watergun slots and a couple others. no joke, it sed air.

It could be a glitch, in which case try to get rid of it, but if you can't it might be best just to start over. You could always try putting it in daycare but I don't know if that works for eggs. Also, avoid gameshark in the future, it is known to cause weird glitches.

My daughter said put your egg back in the pc and reset the game and save it and bring it back again. She said if this doesn't work she don't know what will.
