During the beginning days of my period , when it's heaviest, it always leaks through my underwear and sometimes pajamas at night and makes a mess. I wear a pad to bed but since i am lying down at night, my period doesn't land on the pad. gross i know but i need to ask: does anybody have any tips on how to prevent this? Wearing a tampon seems like the only solution but its not safe to wear one at night so i'm out of ideas.

there are special underwear you can wear at night during your period - i think kotex makes them - or you may want to wear an adult brief - I also had the same problem when I was younger and I will say your period will eventually become lighter - it is safe, as has been written to wear a tampn for 8 hours overnight- but if you are not comfortable with this your best bet may be to set an alarm clock and change in the middle of the night

Wear an overnight-sized pad. They go back further, so your blood doesn't roll down your buttcrack to your clothes. They're at every drugstore. Just arrange it so that the whole of your crack is covered when you're laying down, and you'll be fine.

Another solution is to get a Diva Cup or a Keeper, which you can wear not only at night but all day long. They are cups that are inserted into your vagina, and they catch the blood from your period. They don't absorb all of the moisture in your vagina, so you are at significantly less risk for toxic shock syndrome, so you can wear then to sleep even if you will be in bed for more than 8 hours. I sleep in mine all the time, and I would never sleep in a tampon. They are a safer solution than tampons any time of the day. I highly recommend one. You can buy either one of them online, just google them!

A tampon will be your best bet. If you're a rough sleeper, even a long pad can fail. I've been wearing them for 15 years, so I think they are pretty safe. If you don't have experience in buying them remember to check for sizes. You don't want to buy to big because they won't be comfortable, or to little and end up with the same leeking problem.

It depends on how old your are, i wear one to bed, because the risk of toxic shock for someone my age is very low. but if you buy the slender reg and wear a pad you should get through the night. if you are still concerned try double padding your underwear, put on in the regular way and put the other pad up the back of your underwear and you should make it through the night.

You can wear a tampon overnight. It's recommended to not wear the same one for longer than 8 hours as it can cause TSS. I too, can bleed heavily at night. If it's bad, I wear a tampon, and then also use a light days panty liner just in case. I don't want my sheets ruined and it works for me.

Go to Shoppers drug mart and they sell Pads that are Extra Long for nighttime. I have the same problem, but then I noticed the extra long ones. They work wonders. Havent had a leak at night in years!

Be sure your positioning the pad right, because you cant just have it at the front because it tends to get on the back of your underwear. Make sure that its covering everywhere that it needs to be covered. Visit the bathroom often to make sure it hasnt shifted. Also carry a sweater that you can wrap around your waist if you leak and a spare pair of pants. xx

You can wear a tampon at night, I do it all the time. Other than that, you can wear a really long maxi pad, or lie on top of a dark colored towel.
