Stay inside the house, keep the doors closed, and call Animal Control. Do not attempt to shoo away a bear!

When we go away to our cabin we have the same problem.I don't want to harm our little bears and I don't want them to harm my cabin either.
I get some small firecrackers or noisemakers and throw them in the yard or sometimes if you put them in a metal trash can with the lid off that makes even more noise. That way it doesn't harm the bears and it gets them to stay away.
Has worked pretty well for use.Had to do it a couple of times before they got the hint LOL then we had to do it when the new bears would move in.I'm not saying go out and get a massive fireworks display, Just something that will make a lot of noise and give a good show to scare the bears.Best of luck.

Have your folks call the Dept. of Natural Resources,( your State DNR), they have people trained and equipped to deal with these situations without harming the bear. If they can't get through, call the local Police Dept, although they won't be in a hurry, at least they may be able to get the Wildlife people on a Sunday.
Tell them to stay inside and leave the bear alone.

If you leave it alone it will eventually go away on it's own. Do not try to feed it or attract it in any way. It is probably looking for food. If it is a female bear and she has any cubs around she will attack you so stay put inside the house and get your Mom and Dad inside the house too. Pleeeeeeease stay away from it. It is dangerous!!!!!

You stay in the house until it leaves. You probably don`t want to provoke it. What if it decided to come after you? I know black bears are`nt that big, but they can turn aggressive and they`re a lot faster than you might think.

A brown bear you can run DOWNHILL to get away bcoz its front legs are shorter an it is harder for it
you can always play dead an if it aint really hungry you will survive

Smith and Wesson .357 magnum.
You don't have to shoot it! Firing a warning shot should scare it off.
