A few weeks ago, I got a really intense sunburn on just one foot (don't ask). When I had the sunburn, my foot swelled up to about three times it's normal size. Now, although my sunburn is gone, BOTH my feet and ankles are swollen. It feels like a fluid type of swelling, and it seems to be getting worse. There is no pain, but the swelling is uncomfortable and I'm finding it hard to get into my shoes-any ideas?

Sounds like edema caused by the sunburn. If there is fluid in there, and it is uncomfortable, I would recommend scheduling a visit with your doctor. It could start effecting blood flow to your feet, and you don't want that!

As a side note, it happens to me all of the time when I severely burn. It's the luck of the Irish I guess... After 2-3 days of swelling, I have to go to the doctor. He gives me a prescription for a steroid to get the swelling down. Try cool water to soak your feet in, and keep them elevated.

it's just fluid. Keep them elevated as much as possible. It must have been pretty bad sunburn, have you had it checked out to make sure it is not something else. Perhaps the sunburn is actually hiding something more serious. You really need to see a doctor.

Go see a doctor and see if there are reasons for this.
In the meantime, go see a pedorthist and ask for Pedors or Comfortstreet shoes and see if they are right for you.

Why can't we ask? It sounds like a very interesting story. Go visit your doctor, you could be retaining water.
