Lack of oxygen to the brain. Its usually at night, or early in the morning. I think seeing someone yawn is likr a subliminal message for you to yawn for your brains health.

You yawn to balance the barametric pressure that surrounds us all, others yawn when you yawn b/c you have set the pressure to your level, which doesn't always match with the people you're around. In a way it's a dominance struggle over who gets to control the pressure.

No one knows why we do. It just happens. It is like an automatic response. You yawn, I yawn.

its to do with the wars. when you yawn you get an extra burst of oxygen. so when someone yawns your brain automatically rhinks that there is a lack of it therfore you yawn. its a survival instinct.

Nobody really knows. Fact is, we don't know why people yawn, period. Even babies in the womb yawn, so it's not something that you learn.

its a socialogical thing. a way for the tribe to all change gears. you yawn when yer winding down or waking up. this is a signal to the others around you that they should follow suit or get clubed in the head.
it keeps everybody on the same track.

just like what Krista posted earlier... lack of oxigen. we yawn because our brain tells us we are getting less O2 and we need to take in more O2. that's why we yawn - - to force us take in more O2. while we take in extra O2, people next to us become lack of O2 - - we snatch their O2 supply. and they yawn too!! tat's wny yawning appear to be contagious.
