They are always flirting and the other guy practically has dibs on him. But I really like him. Should I compete for him?

If you like him then go for it. If he is still single (not in a romantic relationship with anybody) then you have a shot and should try to get to know him. You never know, he could like you more then that other guy but you don't step up so he doesn't have the choice to choose you. Ask him to do something different as a date, mysterious types like it when you think of something different. Tell us how it turns out.

Be completely honest with the guy. Say something like "hey, I really like you and I would like to go out sometime. It seems as though (insert other guy's name here) likes you too, but if you are free, I would love to go out on a date with you."

I don't know about everyone else but I love it when someone has the confidence to ask me out!

I definitely think you should give it your best shot without seeming too desperate!! AT the end of the day what's the worst that can happen, he rejects you and then you are no worse off than now. However it could turn out very differently. Good Luck!!!

Go for it - - be bold, ask - - it is better to ask than to agonize over not asking. No one has 'dibs,' go for it.

Sure you can make a move, but avoid coming on too strongly.

yes you should.

Just don't get upset if you don't win him.

You can flirt too

Have fun

I would take it slow because if you are too fast you might ruin it.
