I'm not sure. Nothing blows up, there are no fantasy creatures, and there are no pirates. George Lucas didn't have anything to do with it, and I'm pretty sure Steven Spielberg and Jerry Bruckheimer weren't involved, either.
Perhaps there was a good script and talented actors?

When Harry Met Sally was a great movie, because it put into proper perspecive the differences in how men and women think, and feel.

It's the pure comedy and chemistry between the characters. Great movie.

I like it because it brings laughters!!!
The story also may happen in real life, it seems men are from Mars and women are from Venus and they never would speak the same language or hardly can get them on the same page!!!

It addresses the age old question," Can men and women be just friends?" And of course because of the famous orgasm in the restaurant scene.

It is just a well done movie. Some are good and some aren't. This one is good.
