First, just remember not to feed too many treats ;) I know it's tempting and it's fun to see them happy, but even commercially prepared treats are often too high in sugars or fat and too low in the good stuff (just like human treats, eh?). However, small animals like gerbils and hamsters prettymuch live to eat and shouldn't be denied variety.

As long as you feed them sparingly, treats that you can buy at pet stores such as honey and seed sticks or balls, dried fruit pieces, yoghurt drops, etc. are all okay for gerbils. Almost all premade items will say "For Hamsters and Gerbils" or "For Mice and Rats", which should help you figure it out. If something doesn't say Gerbils, but does say Hamsters, it's probably still okay too.

You can also give him/her/them fresh vegetables, just avoid things that are very high in water content, like lettuce- and once again, don't feed too much. A little bit of carrot is a common treat.
