How do you add a "click to enlarge" feature for pictures on a website?

Sometimes on websites, you can click on a picture to enlarge it. How do you do this?

Typically the picture you are clicking on is a thumbnail or smaller version than the original. So to see the original or bigger size you link to the full size image either directly or to a new page that has the image in it's original size.

If you know anything about HTML the best thing to do is to view source on a site that does what you are wanting to do and then just use that same basic code on your page.
