I agree with you. I'm an American unless I need to specify. Then I call myself black. To me, an African-American has just gotten his/her citizenship, or is the descendant of Africans within 2-3 generations. The same for European-Americans, Asian-Ameicans, etc, in my opinion. I just say white when talking about caucasian Americans, if there's a need to specify. Otherwise, who cares? American!

No. I'm not going to start calling myself a European Canadian because I have native ancestry too. If people have ancestors from multiple continents, do they have to go through the whole list? This could get tedious. I prefer "people".

So called african-americans rarely use that term. We pretty much stick to black and white.

Americans r Americans, regardless of what color. Personally I am rather sick of the colored ppl changing what they want to be called. If the NAACP would change their name then maybe everybody would know what to call them.

I have a question of my own on that. What's with the word "caucasian"? Where is Caucasia, if there is such a place.
