OK, I don't think Osama or Nasrallah and their friends hang out here. So you'll have to settle for us various 'know-it-alls' instead.

The answers about accommodating the terrorists might as well be coming from them. That is what they want you to do, but it certainly won't stop them. It will only give them more incentive to continue the activities that have gained them attention and concessions. If you are really wealthy, you might be able to appease them this way for some time, but eventually they will wear you down. Since most terror organizations don't display any sense of balance or proportion, they have no interest in compromise, and will keep upping their demands as long as they think they have any hope of achieving them.

As a number of terrorists have declared publicly, they intend to fight unto death. If you are willing to take them at their word, it would appear that the only way to get them to stop is to supply them with the opportunity for martyrdom they claim to desire. That goes against most western sensibilities, but so do most of their tactics.

It could be pointed out that during the Revolutionary War ( In the US ) the British considered the American freedom fighters to be a form of terrorist, since they refused to line up in neat rows to be shot at, and worse yet, would intentionally fire at the officers of an opposing force. By the standards of war at the time, THAT was considered unsporting. Of course, the British would occasionally round up families of the opposing forces, lock them in a building, and burn them down. So I'm not sure about their standards of fair play !

I highly doubt terrorists are going to be wasting their time on yahoo answers. I'm sure they are out playing militia or having circle jerks with eachother.
As far as your question though, speaking from an American's point of view now. They are taught from birth to hate America, it's people and our beliefs. They are taught that women are servents to men, that they are property and are owned by men. They are highly religous and believe everything they do is done for the glory of their god.
Now, imagine living that kind of lifestyle and watching American and it's people. Women are free to walk around in the skimpiest of clothing, they are free to work in equal (if not better) jobs then men. Religion is on the downfall in this country. To them we are the enemy and they are willing to die to get back at us.

I think most terrorist will continue as long as they think they can succeed in their goals. All they need to continue is hope, and a place of refuge.

To make them stop we have to leave not doubt they will fail, and leave no place of refuge. Terrorist know they cannot win a military victory and their only hope is to make the other guy quit. If it is clear the other guy isn't going to quit and isn't going to leave any place of refuge they will stop.
