Currently in SLC Utah the temp is 98 degrees. 20 miles up the canyons of the wasatch natl forest it is 108 degrees. the elevation in the wasatch is approx 9000 ft give or take. In the past 10 years i have never seen the wasatch so hot. I worked up there in the summers because i knew it would be at least 10 to 15 degrees cooler....This increase in the mountain temp has got hotter all week. Mother nature is confused?

It could be, but it might not.

I think global warming is quite real, but I'm also old enough to remember that in the 70s "global cooling" was "real" . Computer models showed a cooling planet. Scientists predicted a coming ice age. As cooling made the ice caps expand, more solar energy would be reflected back into space, hastening the cooling trend. One of the popular science magazines ran a cover showing all the ships frozen in New York harbor, while a glacier toppled the Empire State building. There was quite an array of scientists -- and of course, politicians -- on the chilling earth bandwagon. And global cooling was blamed on air pollution.

A lot of people say so, but I say, take a look at this record book. Have most of the monthly warmest weather records been set in the last few years, or in years long ago gone by?

Clearly we have had a lot of very hot weather lately, but more records by far are from many years ago.

This leads me to conclude that what is called "Global Warming" today is being used as a scare tactic on those unaware of the simple facts. Maybe they have some other agenda, I'm wondering.

That is a very interesting question indeed. I would have expected to mountain to be cooler as well, however if there is not any vegetation on the mountain, perhaps it is absorbing the heat rather than diffusing it like you would find in a forested range? Weird given the elevation too. Sorry I can't offer anymore than this speculation.

I really think we all need to be looking at what is happening with this planet. I live in Canada and I know that our weather has been extremely weird in the past year or two. We all need to open our eyes to what is happening before it is too late. We can fix it now but in the future will we be able to? I know I am sounding like one of those protesters but I am really starting to worry when I see our environment change so much.

Global warming is not happening. Scientists love to say that so they can make people scared. That's how they make money, by making people scared. The temperature fluctuates by airmasses, fronts, winds, and a lot of other factors in the air. Global warming is a theory, and it's not true!

She's sick. We just need to get the Tylenol company to come up with a MEGA sized capsule that is resistant to ultra hot temprature so we can put it down a volcano, get it to the center and wait for the Earth's fever to go down.

YES... Global warming is a reality... don't believe what the politicians say... believe what 98 percent of the scientists who are studying the problem say... and that is: GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL... so get used to it.!
