The Palestinians are the people who originally lived in the area that is now isreal. When isreal was created, they were relocated, supposedly to be sent somewhere else to live, but instead they were just left in refugee camps. That is why they are fighting in isreal, and why there is support for giving them their own state, as was originally promised.

The identity of Palestinians is a modern term. It describes Muslim and a minority of Christian Arabs, that lived in the area that was nown as Palestine in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. There have been Jews living in "Palestine continuously for more than 2,500 years. Not all
Jews were driven out of the area after the Temple of Jerusalem fell in 70 A.D. to the Romans, as a consequence of the last Jewish revolt against the Romans ca. 64 A.D. Many Jews were subsequently driven out of the area then but a substantial number stayed. Islam swept into the area soon after Mohammed died in A.D. 630. Jews were still in the region when the First Crusader knights took and Sacked Jerusalem. Several thousand Jews took shelter in the main synegogue but the knights slaughtered them there. Still there were Jews liing there continuously through that time until today. Zionism became a significant force that encouraged other Jews to resettle in what was to become Israel in the 19'th. and 20'th. They bought land and settled there. There was concern by Arabs in the region and several uprisings occurred with the loss of Jewish and some Arabs lives. After World War 2 and the Nazi mass murders., many of the survivors made their way to "palestine". Britain ceded the territory in 1948 and a war started. The local Jews had to fight off the combined armies of, Egypt, Transjordan Lebanon, and Syria. During that war these armies asked the local Muslim population to decamp and get out of the way to fascilitate their presumed, and desired victory. They were defeated. This left about 40,000 displaced Palestinians on the borders of Israel. The host Arab countries were content to allow them to fester in overcrowded refugee camps. These refugees cannot get Arab citizenship, cannot gain title to any land and have difficulties getting travel documents. In other words, the Arab countries have used these refugees as propaganda tools for decades.
Iccidentally, there are one million Arab citizens of Israel. They most rights of Jewish citizens, with a few exceptions. Like not being subject to the draft of Israel Defense Forces.
In the 1950's several hundred thousand Jews were forced out of most Arab countries. Most left with only the clothes on their backs there property was stolen by the state. Most emigrated to Israel.
Israel has offered to give most of the West Bank and the Gaza strip to them in order to form a palestinian state, and to pay restitution for the 5% they insisted upon holding for security purposes. Yasser Arafat and many Palestinians refused. They made no couteroffers. They wanted no compromises they wanted everything, and that the Jews disappear or be driven into the sea.. The Israelis are not prepared to surrender unconditionally, nor accept four million Palestinians to return and live in their midst. (a recipe for suicide).
Isreal has withdrawn from the Gaza Strip and from a 30 mile buffer strip they held in Southern Lebanon. The Arabs took credit for the "great victory" of driving Israel out. they have, then,continuously fired missiles across the border into Israel, and have made incursions to kill and kidnap civilians and militsary personnel.This is intolerable. No other country I know of would have tolerated these blatent acts of war for so long. It will now end. It must be stopped and many innocent Arabs will be killed in the process. Why, because Hisbollah and Hamas and Islamic Jihad hide their weaponry in civilian houses and mosques. They site, in Lebanon, many of their offices on the ground floor of highrise apartment buildings with civillians living in units above them. Rockets and weapons are cached in farm buildings and and villiage houses. Some civilian builings have retractable roofs to allow missile launches from them. Arabs hide behind women and children and shoot at Israelis.
Israel will not lie down and die the Jews will fight for their survival.

Ask yourself who indulges in suicide bombings (in Spain, England, Bali, ) airline highjackings, mass musder at the Munich Olympics, World Trade Center (twice), the Pentagon. Achillae lauro cruise ship. airliner bombings. etc. etc. It was nor Jews it was Arabs and other Muslims.
