I agree with what you said but there is one more factor. Republicans don't live in cities. In many of the older cities across America there is no Republican party to speak of. Personally I think this is a mistake. There are some places where a Republican might stand a fighting chance if he got some support form the party. In many cites the general election is just a formality because the Republican candidate is a joke. The entire contest takes place in the primary.
Maybe it the party were to spend some money to get their message out they would pick up more votes. With time they might win once in a while.
olderandwiser...and still mislead. Read the question where does it say Bill Clinton went to a private school? Also, It is not true that only the Christian flank of the Republican party want vouchers. Most Republicans want them. It has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with the quality of education. If my kids get a better education at a parochial school than a public one that is where I want them to go. These schools do not shove religion down the throats of students the way the left paints it. If there is one thing someone should learn in life it is that if you try to force something on kids they will surely reject it. All that happens is they are exposed to religion. It is not a cult it is a school.
If you don't have a problem with your kids going to school with drug dealers and low lifes good for you. I do have a problem with it and I don't want to pay for it.

Was this a rant?? You are very mistaken. In the first place the taxpayers pay for schools not the government and I don't want anyone going to a private school on my money. And what makes you think Bill went to a private school?? His family was poor and he went to public schools like everyone else. The middle class moved out of the cities because of CRIME not for any other reason. I will not pay for anyone else's child to go to a private school. I will put may taxes to use for better teachers. The Christian right wants to do vouchers for schools not mainstream Republicans. And the Democrats do not run all the big cities. New York has a rich Republican and nothing has changed there. If you study in a public school you can get an education. If you choose to be a wise guy instead of a nerd that's not my problem. Take some responsibility for your self. Sorry no sympathy from me!!

Well, here in the Phoenix area were are headed by Governer Janet Napolitano who is a Democrat. Most everybody though would say that the person most listened to here is Senator John McCain republican. Together they both agree on most things anyway. Tourism is up here except during summer because nobody wants to travel to the heat. The cities in this area are booming. The worst thing that happens here with crime usually is that we run so many red lights and cause horrible accidents, but most Phonecians would say that this is one great place to live. It would be better though if it weren't as hot as hell!

Many cities are big "free-range" prisons. The inhabitants are too dumb to realize they are actually inmates. What's on the menu (in the mouse-trap)?... gobment cheese. Look around. See the "tagging", the "walls & fences" and "concertina wire". The "bars". Look familiar? They're not to keep the bad out as you might mistakenly persuade yourself to believe, now are they? Visit L A sometime. Not Belair, Beverly Hills, not the resorts, beaches, Nightclubs, or Movie Studios, Disneyland, no no no ... Compton, Watts, South Central, North Hollywood, El Segundo, Whittier, Bell, Long Beach and many other inner city places. Find out for yourself.

It used to be said that the second toughest job in America was being the Mayor of NYC. Pundits said that it was ungovernable.
That was before Rudy G. came to town.
First as a federal prosecutor, then as mayor he showed how to get the job done. The pundits called is ideas crazy, but they worked and now NYC is one of the nicest cities in the country.
But I still miss that hole on the horizon where the WTC used to be.

Poor people lack intelligence and don't see the correlation between bad government and them staying poor.
