The mid fifties, as it was a fun time for rock n roll, and seemed, more innocent. World War ll was over, and the Korean War too. There was the GI Bill, and America was the strongest country on the planet, and Gas was 29c a gallon.
But like any other age, they had their problems, with the House on UnAmerican Activities, etc. And the fear of the Atomic Bomb.
But it does seem a more fun and relaxed time.

At the risk of making some people feel old, I'll say that I wouldn't mind turning the clock back to 1982 just so I could see the year I was born

I wouldn't because I might mess something up that made me who I am and I like me the way I am.

If I had to I would go back to Medieval Scotland just for the fun of it.
