try for watson from NE. he is not a rookie but young
Same with Truoe from Ten,
The next best rookie is Lewis in Jax.
Horton in No may be good too .

there are a bunch of rookies that could have impact at TE this season (besides Davis who looks like an absolute monster):
Mercedes Lewis - JAX - Leftwich has never had a legit TE before, should win the job easily from Kyle Brady
Leonard Pope - ARZ - with the Cards' WR, he should be wide open - IF they use him.
Dominique Byrd - on e of 2 rookie TE in STL
Joe Klopfenstein - keep an eye out to see who wins the job
There are other non-rookie, young TE's who could impact this year:
Zach Hilton - NO - great 2nd half last year
Ben Watson - NE - what a monster? did you see the denver playoff game?
Ben Troupe - TEN - questions about the passing game though
Heath Miller - PIT - already a top ten after just one season
Incidentally, good TE's appear very often with QB's who aren't so great. They're big targets who can act as safety blankets for insecure QB's. (See Antonio Gates, Eric Johnson, Jeremy Shockey, randy McMichael, etc.)
Don't assume Vernon Davis won't perform because he has a stiff like Alex Smith at QB - that may be exactly why he WILL perform.

Zach Hilton in NO is big, and Drew Brees threw a lot to the TE, but that was Antonio Gates. So thats really a shot in the dark guess. The Rams drafted two TE's so they wouldn't have done that without reason. But Leonard Pope in Arizona could be a star if there are enough balls to go around in the desert. Lets not forget Kellen Winslow II who is essentially a rookie in Cleveland.

Zach Hilton would be a good choice because he is a solid tight end and you know that brees throws to his tight ends, look at Gates. If you want to take a flyer at the end of the draft you should look at alex smith of TB. Gruden loves to throw the short stuff which means he will get a lot of catches. Alex Smith also showed some promise towards the end of the season. Plus you know that with a young quaterback, he usually doesn't have a favorite target right away so that could mean that Smith will be that guy. You never know and thats why i took him in my draft.

I don't think their are any good rookie tight ends this year. Vernon Davis is the top rated one, but he plays for the 49ers, a mediocre team with a subpar QB in Alex Smith (or whoever will replace him when Smith gets benched). For other top rated TE's, try Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys or Todd Heap of the Baltimore Ravens.

The best to go after at the TE Spot are
Zach Hilton (New Orleans)
Jim Klopfenstein (St. Louis)
Mercedes Lewis (Jacksonville)
Clearly the three best options after Vernon Davis (San Francisco)

Zach Hilton is the TE in New Orleans. Also keep an eye on Marcedes Lewis in Jacksonville and Jim Klopfenstein in St. Louis and Dominique Byrd, who is either in Arizona or St. Louis.

I would say Joel Klopfenstein mainly because of the lack of top redzone targets in St. Louis and he's a behometh in himself. Pope has to compete with Boldin/Edge and VD has that Alex Smith guy has to throw with.
ZACH HILTON is not a rookie.

Antonio Gates is still very young and should produce very well even though the team lost Drew Brees...
