I just had a repair technician out here to work on my A/C for the house. He supposedly fixed it but now my house is getting HOTTER not colder. Is this normal? Does it blow hot air at first and then cool?

Okay, he's back thank god it was fast. And...yes, he's licensed and from a reputable company.

It's the thermostat, originally he thought I just needed new batteries in my old one.

sorry but you,ve been ripped off your unit should blow cold air from the start if the air con unit isnt running the fan will still blow cool air but not cold like air con try tripping the contact breakers then resetting them it may be a sticky contact breaker if not then you need a technician out again try calling the guy back that you had and get him to fix it properly free of charge as he didnt fix it properly last time if not then you need a qualified technician from a reputable company to look at it ask if they can give you a no obligation quote for the work required before you decide if you want it fixed or not hope you get it fixed without much trouble

No. It should be blowing cold air from the start.

It sounds like you were scammed. The guy that supposedly fixed your unit, didn't.

I'm sure he is not a licensed technicion.

You either need freon or a new part.

Call a reputable company, even though they might charge a little more.

It should be cool right away. Had mine fixed the other day, and it was the contact box (where the thermometer inside triggers the outside unit to switch on)
He didn't fix it and probably charged you an arm and a leg. Make them come back out and fix it!

No it shouldn't for more than a brief moment. If the fan is running the air will not be cold if the AC unit is not running. It sounds like you need another tech to look at the unit and I cannot diagnose it on this forum.

I love it when it's something simple and cheap!!

leave you A/C working for a while and check the temparature control. i could be normal but if it is still blowing hot air call the company.

yeah it sounds like a compressor problem, or there is no coolent. The technician didn't completely fix it.

I'm glad to hear he came back to finish fixing your AC so quickly! Being without it is miserable in this heatwave!

Check your breakers. My central air was blowing warm and it was a bad breaker. It can't hurt to trip them and try it.
