No, you'd be surprised that most homeless people are very intelligent, came from well-to-do families and were well educated. Taxes and stress began to "pile" up, and they gave in to everything. Everything...lost and forgotten...

No, I don't think.I know. Last May, my family became homeless. It is a long and sad story that changed our lives.
It all started with an injury I received giving birth to my son, a doctor with an alcohol problem, a critically ill husband, trying to keep a roof over our heads and trying to feed our babies. It has been over a year now,and we have an apartment again, I am healed completely with little to no scarring and I am working and trying to get us a house again.
People that are homeless don't have to stay homeless if they try.But the despair is horrible, I wanted to give up many times. But I didn't. Thanks for posing the question. It is a reminder of all that I have worked for. God bless.

From what I can tell, and from what I know, a majority of the homeless people are mentally ill who never recived proper care, or where dumped off by family members who didn't want to care for them or pay the medical bills.

As for people who are not in that situation, I would day no becuase everyone has high hopes of earning lot's or money one day. It takes alot of hard work to get there, but any one can do it. Alot of these people probley did have a job, but they were laid off or the company they worked for went out of business. They probley try looking for jobs, but they just can't get any probley because of several reasons.
1. Lack of education, most likely these people do not have alot of education to open up more job oppurtunites, and they are limited to jobs like working at fast food restaurants, or working in a factory. And how can they pay for an education if they have no job in the first place (considering they have completed high school or left high school)?
2. They may have just given up. Perhaps they have given up on being rich, and they just don't care anymore.
3. They don't want a job. Maybe they found they didn't like hard work, or learning how hard it is to get to where they want to get. Maybe they would rather be beggers, and have no home, or food.

If they do the right things, follow all the procedures, then they can get themselves out of it. I don't ever give money to homeless people (unless they have children with them) because I think they need to get up and keep trying, not matter how hard it is, to start making money again and start supporting themselves.

I was homeless as a young man. The sad truth is that at least half of America is only a couple pay checks away from that possibility. Not all homeless are bumbs, many have fallen into bad luck (lay offs, etc.) and it is really hard to recover when you have no family, no phone and no clean clothes. I sympathise.

I think to most homeless it is a conscious choice, and not in that they choose not to get a job way, but that they have seriously just given up on life, and don't care to live for a society that has rejected them.

The majority of us are one paycheck away from being homeless all the time.

Probably not. It is sad, but if you have parents that are homeless then you will most likely be homeless as well.
