In 2005, the top three countries where the USA imported oil from was:

USA (domestic) = 34.7%
Canada = 10.5%
Mexico = 8%

The Persian Gulf region makes up only 11.1% of oil imported to the USA, with Saudi Arabia making up 7.4% and Iraq 2.5%. Iran doesn't even make it to the top ten of countries that have crude oil imported in the USA.

So if all of the countries in the Persian Gulf decide to not market there oil to the USA, it would increase imports from the countries closer to the USA, like Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela. And as stated before, since Saudi Arabia's main export is oil, and the USA is one of the biggest consumers, it would hurt the Saudi Arabia economy more than the economy of the USA.

The world revolves around oil. Any country that produces it has a certain amount of power because of it. Saudi controls a lot of the oil market but their own economy also depends on being able to export this oil, i.e. they can't afford to refuse their oil to the rest of the world.

Saudi Oil is important to the U.S. economy, but halting oil supplies wouldn't lead to diplomatic pressure, it would lead to military pressure. We would use our strategic reserves and mass along the Saudi border. If the oil didn't flow, Saudi King would be disposed. Iranian Oil doesn't matter to the U.S. because we can't legally buy it anyway.
