The fact that Leslie was a good runner, and she beat Jess, so he told the other dude that "was he afraid he'd get beat by a girl". And later, after she beat the dude, Jess wanted to, sort of, become a friend

ive read it too. i think it's cuz leslie always wanted to play games with the guys instead of the girls. maybe im thinking of a diffrent book. i read this in 5 grade so i dont really rember.

read the book but that was back in like 5th or 6th grade, so i don't remember anything that happened..do remember that someone died, but i'm not sure how....good luck tho.
