Would you like to see black people not able to vote, no pure food and drug laws, no interstate highway system, no student loans, no medicare or social security, colleges and universities closed, hospitals closed, no TVA or flood control or water projects, no national parks, no medical research...and wait for Private Industry to provide it all?

Yes no more civil rights, lets burn the constitution, screw veterans benefits, no more military or public schgools or hospitals because some people are too cheap to pay taxes. In other words we would turn into a fasist version of Mexico, thats what the conservatives want thats what theyll get over my dead body.

Does he not know how many Amendments to the Constitution there are to reflect the changing times? All people should be able to vote, but due to the long lines (sometimes hours long), they give up without voting at all & go home, clean water is generally regulated by cities, not the Federal Govt, some drugs need to be repealed (such as medicinal marijuana for cancer pain), Federal funding cuts for our highway system seems to get cut all too frequently leaving it up to the states to fix their own roads by priority, the GOP has consistantly cut benefits to programs such as student loans, pell grants, Medicare, Medicaid & Veteran benefits. Colleges & Universities don't rely on Govt money, they just raise tuition funds so that only the rich can attend, as far as flood control & water projects go--talk to Katrina victims about Govt assistance and insurance policies. And medical research? Bush just signed his first veto to put a stop to embryonic stem cell research funding that would have saved lives & cured disease. Now we must rely on other countries or the private sector to help us live disease free. Only in America. Only by a Republican president! And just in case you're wondering...we haven't heard the end of Bush's attempt to overhaul Social Security. It's the next "domestic issue" on his plate.

Your point is well-taken and correct, but there are some things that need to go -- starting with the Gun Control Act of 1968. This is so blatantly unconstitutional it's pathetic.

No.

I despise ideologies because they try to force-fit reality into their own version of what "should" and "should not" be. Any country which truly cares about its citizens should keep what works and throw everything else out.
