I am thinking of buying two, one of which to take over to USA with me for my daughter, so that we should be able to have nice long phone chats for free, has anyone tried this, does it work, and is it worth it ????// Cheers.

I am not familiar with TESCO, but Lingo, which I am using has been fantastic.
For $21.95 a month you get not only all calls in the USA and Canada for free, but also 17 countries in Western Europe.
If you have an existing customer refer you to them you also receive a $25.00 credit once you have been on for 90 days. The first month is free, they do have a charge for the equipment.
Of course you need a broadband connection.
I have had conversations of 4 hours with some of my friends over there (Germany, Austria, Ireland)
Other countries are available as well, i.e. you can get the freebies to Asian countries and Mexico.

I've been wondering the same thing. It's not free though, just really really cheap. The crazy thing is though that it's cheaper to call a mobile in the states than it is to call one in this country...go fig eh?

Best thing to do, if you both have broadband connection, is get a headset, download SKYPE, and use that to talk for free, as long as u want :)
