i've been married 4 times and got sick of changing my name, so i had my last name changed legally to a name i liked...my husband would love it if i took his name, but i like my name now and don't really want to change it....

You don't have to at all... You should do what makes sense to you. I think, wanting to keep the name you like is as good a reason as any to do so. People will come up with all kinds of reasons why it's so "inconvenient" to have a different name from your husband - but, from my own experience (I've kept the same name my whole life), and from that of my mom (kept her name, has been married for 30+ years, 2 kids) it has not come up a single time. (Maybe a couple of times I've been asked by curious people why is it that my name is different from my husband's... And I'd always tell them it was because he chose to keep his own name after marriage!) :) From a practical standpoint, it makes no difference at all. One good reason to change it would be, of course, to make your husband happy - but, at the end, it's *your* name and *your* decision.

If you don't change your name legally then you won't have to change it back when you get divorced again. Just use your married name for now. Or you could hyphenate the two names then when you get divorced you just drop the married name.
All these comments are assuming divorce only....no disrespect intented.

Go with what "Ray of Sunshine" says. and hyphenate. I see it as a very classy thing to do in today's society.

You don't have to take his name. Or you can hyphenate your name and then his.

You could make your maiden name your middle name and take his.
