Sopranos was greatly disappointing. Nothing happened. Last season can be summed up as "the gay dies."
Deadwood has revived itself with a new turf war. It's actually interesting again. Great to see a show where you actually have to use your brain to follow the dialog and the drama is fantastic.
Rome season 2 a year away. That blows.
If they cancel Deadwood, I'll end up saving money on cable by not getting HBO.

I really, really like Deadwood (35 minutes more to the next episode), although this season is down a notch.
I understand that Milch was only planning four seasons. He lost the 4th season, but will get two 2-hour movies to finalize his storylines after this story is done.
The real Deadwood was really only "frontier" for a couple of years, and I think it is the "last frontier town" context of the story that has made it such crackling good TV.
It is disappointing, but it was about at the end of its run anyway - I would much prefer a full season. HBO will have some more good series on and, if not HBO, then someone else.

They're both great shows. I think the last season of the Sopranos those was sorta weak. All of those Tony in the hospital dream kinda scenes were a little too touchy feely for me.
As for Deadwood being cancelled...the jurys not out yet on that. HBO has made some grumblings about not picking it up for a fourth season...but they've done that before. See the link below for more info on that.

I love Deadwood. I hate that they are cancelling the show and I have sent a few e-mails to HBO complaining to no avail. I don't like the Sopranos at all-I hate how they glorify Tony.

Sopranos rock, I own every season. I could not get into Deadwood that Calamity Jane annoyed the hell out me. I look forward to the sixth season being released as i have not seen it

I love Deadwood and have bought the first series on DVD. I can't believe they are cancelling it! I waited for each new episode!
