Many people interpret a virgin in a few different ways,but mainly a virgin is someone who has not had sexual intercourse.Meaning penetration by the penis to the vagina.(Also, some people consider a virgin to be someone who has not had oral sex.)

I don't think a virgin is specifically based on sex. I think a virgin is someone who hasn't done something for the first time. Then when they do that something for the first time, they are considered "not a virgin" for that specific thing.
Ex: First time to kiss a boy/girl.
You are now not a virgin when it comes to kissing.
