No, Harley Davidson isnt owned by Honda, nor does Harley Davidson own Honda. Youre asking because so many newer Hondas look like Harleys, right?
Back in the early to mid 90's, one of the chief designers of Harley Davidson left, and went to work for Honda.
There was a lawsuit, in which Harley lost. It was a design infringement lawsuit, and since Harley lost, that is why so many bikes by Honda & Kawasaki look alot like Harleys now.

Hell No!

William S. Harley founded the company, which is a USA company, not from Japan, like Honda is.

Arthur Davidson built their first motorcycle, the name was made from both their last names. (Harley Davidson).

You must be confused because Harley finally got rid of the old unreliable "shovel head" engine and replaced it with the more reliable "EVO". It's about as reliable as a Honda, but not part of the Honda family. Sorry if I upset the dead set Harley fans, but sometimes the truth is painful.

No, Honda doesn't own Harley. However, a lot of Harley parts are now made overseas. Carbs are from Japan, the engine blocks are cast in the BMW factory in Germany, etc. Not as American as it used to be...

In 1972, or so, Harley Davidson was bought by AMF, who almost ran the company into the ground. In 1978, the company was bought by Harley's grandson, and still operates the company today.

That's funny. I heard a drunk biker, at a rally, say the Harley had bought Honda. :-)

Speaking of BS, there's an awful lot of it in the answers to your question.

No, but Honda did get sued in the mid 80's by HD for infringement when they built a V-Twin modeled after HD's EVO.
