Is it true that when people are down all the time and constantly angry, do they get jealous REALLY easily?

I don't know if I should just leave my 'friend' because she has really weird mood swings, first she's all happy and nice, and then she's a rotten backstabber the next. She says really mean things about my friends, and it's annoying me! Please tell me if you have ever dealt with anything like that before and what can I do to keep her away from me? I've asked her to stop talking to me, and she won't quit it! Please help!
