What does an executive producer do?

I have to know!!! I'm going to be going out to L.A. soon. I need to know what they do! :-o

An executive producer would be responsible for all aspects of the production -- other than direction -- and the other producers would report on their particular areas of responsibility to him/her. Principally, the producers deal with the acquisition and disbursement of funds... i.e. they're the money people.

they are the person or persons over a particular theatrical project in other words they cut the checks
