I have a way to help you know its formula by its name:
Meth=1 carbon atom in the longest chain of carbon in that compound.
Eth= 2 carbon atoms in the longest chain of carbon in that compound.
Prop=3 carbon atoms in the longest chain of carbon in that compound.
But= 4 carbon atoms in the longest chain of carbon in that compound.
Pent= 5 carbon atoms in the longest chain of carbon in that compound.
Hex= 6 carbon atoms in the longest chain of carbon in that compound.

an (ane)= No double bonds between carbon atoms
en(ene)= Carbon double bonds in this compound
2,en(ene)= Carbon double bonds in this compound in between the second and third carbon atom.
