has anyone had probs with a 2003 jetta not shifting out of park?

common problem: brake light switch. it fails and cannot detect that you're putting your foot on the brake, therefore not being able to shift out of park. there's a recall out for this for vw's, but im not sure if it applies to the jetta.

Have you checked the linkage to the transmission? I
