If so, were you a fan of duran duran? Were you their biggest fan or what was the most stupidist/wildest thing you ever did to get to see them.

yeah, I was a huge fan.

My husband works with someone used to do security for them, and is still mates with Simon le Bon, so he got me some signed cd's and autographed photos and posters

Wish I had them back when i was in school, everyone would have been soooooo jealous!!

My mate went saw them in concert, she travelled half way up the country, stood in a queue for hours, got to the front of the crowd right by the stage, by the time they came on stage she was so exited she fainted and was carried out. She wasnt allowed back in after she had been checked over. Gutted!

I was still barely a teenager in the early 80's (started college in 1980) and I LOVED Duran Duran. I still think they were very underrated musically, to be honest. If they hadn't been pretty boys, people would have taken them more seriously and given them more credit for the new things they did with harmony that hadn't been done before (and has been copied quite a bit since) I'm not saying they were musical geniuses or anything, but they definitely pioneered a sound.

Oh, and of course they were hot :)

DURAN DURAN SUCKED EXCEPT FOR SIMON LE BON AND HIS DEMEANOR IN INTERVIEWS. I HATE THE BAND BUT I LIKE HIS PERSONALITY. WHAT CAN I SAY?

I THOUGHT FLOCK OF SEAGULLS WAS BETTER, EVEN IF THEY DIDN'T LAST THAT LONG. THEY WENT ON SOME SHOW, NOT 'BANDS REUNITED' BUT SOME OTHER SHOW AND THE LEAD SINGER WITH THE WILD BLONDE HAIR STOOD BEHIND THE KEYBOARDS THE WHOLE TIME.

MY THEORY IS, SINCE DURAN DURAN WENT UP TO THE AUDIENCE IN THE SAME MANNER OF BOWIE AND SPRINGSTEEN, THEY ADDED THE DANCE DIMENSION AS WELL AS SOME RHYTHM AND THE MUCH--NEEDED HUMAN TOUCH. I THINK THE 'DANCING IN THE DARK' VIDEO BY SPRINGSTEEN VS. 'I RAN' BY FLOCK OF SEAGULLS ILLUSTRATES THE DIFFERENCE.

I was a teen in the 80's. Much as I liked their music I felt that they seemed to have a 'we are so great' attitude and that kinda held me back from being a fan.

I will say that since their comeback they have settled down and seem to enjoy the music more than the notoriety of their fame.

Simon came to the shop I work in shortly after and he is really down to earth. I had a great chat with him and he even said that he admired my honesty.

Okay, I wasn't the biggest fan, but they were fun. Got into Metallica later in the decade. More serious and agressive, but probably not as much fun.

Yes - and I was in love with Simon le Bon.

I never tried to see them - but when it was their birthdays my friends and I used to bake them cakes.

Also, we only ever ate orange smarties because someone said they liked them!!!

Why didn't anyone ever fancy Roger the drummer??
