Being self employed is awesome.
However it does take self motivation and discipline.
I is a lot of hard work. Probably the hardest you will ever work but if you seek out people of like mind and with experience you never really doing it alone.
Good luck and have fun.

I have two business':
For the last 10 years I have ran a web/print development company: Digital Roar [www.digitalroar.com] and even though progress has been slow with all my other work, I also own Naughty Girl Clothing [www.naughtygirlclothing.com]
As long as the business keeps up being self employed is the BEST thing you can do... but I must stress that you no longer work 40 hrs with weekends off. You job 24/7 is to keep the work coming in and going out or you won't have the $$ you need to survive.

I really want to own my own spa. Of course coming up with the money for that is hard. Right now I am self employed with Pre Paid Legal services and will be retired in 3-5 years so that I can have the time and money to open my other business and my husband as well. Pre Paid is not hard, I simply talk to people and I love the services so it is easy to show to people. I love not having to work for anyone else!!
Not to mention the tax benefits. I can write off getting my hair done, my mileage, office supplies, cost for meetings, clothes, cell phone...etc..

My Husband and I own our own Pool company in Texas. Everyone just about has a pool in Texas, it is always so hot and Humid, right now our sales are booming.
We are able to pick our own hours, we travel all the time, and we are able to hang out with our newborn son as much as we want. That is a true benefit.
We had to work hard non-stop for the first 6 years, but it was all well worth it! I love all my employees and we are all like one big family, But the neatest thing is that I am BOSS, no-one bosses me around and I love that feeling, It is truly freedom.
If you are thinking about having your own business, Do it!!! It is so hard at first and you will want to give up all the time...Believe me we almost did several times, But we are so happy that we decided not to. And now I also know that my son will be financially set, our work has paid off!!!
Good luck and God bless. If you have any questions email me.

I have my own home business and it is helping people obtain discount health benefits. I enjoy it because it is something that is important and essential to peoples lives. Though I do have to put in effort and it is not hard. I am very happy being self employed and I have a website that you can check out if you are interested in joinging my team(I have 6 openings) Joing my team doesn't mean you work for me. It just a support rather; somewhere to get help and training. check out my website: www.homeworkformom.com
I take it very seriously and would love to personally answer any questions or concerns you may have.

I've owned several, a small business consulting firm, an interior design firm, property management, investment and rental firm. It is a lot of hard work, long hours, problem solving and worry! But, overall I think I learned so much more by being in business than I did from all of my degrees. Overall, the real estate takes the most out of you physically, emotionally and sometimes spiritually. It is really hard to evict people even when you know you have a mortgage to pay and they aren't paying their rent, so you cannot support them. It is even worse when they have children and have a drug problem that is keeping them from getting the great career they once had. But, you do get to meet some really talented, skilled and knowledgeable people, without whom you could not be in business yourself.

Compared to offline businesses, the investment required to start an online business is minimal. A popular way of earning money on the internet is by providing information and services. This can be monetised by advertising or charging a subscription. You can also make money online by selling products on auction websites like eBay or through your own website. Yes I own my own business.
I am a home based travel agent. I love it. I set my own hours and do what I want. Nothing like working in my PJ's
Did it part time and went full time 7 months ago.
Great industry perks (travel dirt cheap) and get to write off my vacations as tax deductions.

I was in the electronic repair/sales/installation business for many years. It was always worth the effort everyday to run my business. Was very financially rewarding.
