I liked those tin pull-up toys: motorcycles, cars etc. But the one I'd want back most was the talking doll which served as a good reason to start learning English for. But Mom didn't know how I had wanted to understand what the doll was saying and gave it away when I was 13. Now I am a teacher of English (in Hungary) and I've got no chance to learn what those two or three sentences meant (I don't remember how they sounded). That was 30 ys ago.

When I was 12 in 1959 I built an Airfix Lancaster Bomber from a kit. It was beautiful and as it took me weeks to make quite an achievement. I can't remember what happened to it but as my father died when I was 10 we had little money so therefore few toys. That bomber kit was a treasured Christmas present from my Aunt and uncle and it was the best plane ever.

Probably a tiny tears doll, it was one of the first to be made. I still have my two favourite toys. My teddy and a black doll called Topsy.

We had a type of 'ride' in our yard everyone loved to play one. It went round and round and there were 4 seats each person had a handle. You pushed and pulled to make it go around. The faster you pushed and pulled, the faster it went.
