Take more plants in the water, make sure about 50% of the soil is used by plants, plants will reduce nitrates in the water that would make algae grow. Also avoid overfeeding (use food that doesnt mess the water quallity), heat and direct sunlight (my aquarium never sees sunlight and has only few algae growing on the driftwood, and it is eaten by my shrimps and catfish(?). It is best to keep a large aquarium with filtering system, so the water circulates.
Another option is to put some straw into the filtersystem, it makes the water slightly more acid, what algae dont like.
Algae eaters arent that good in cleaning up, dont expect too much from them, I benefit more from shrimps that eat the algae away (I have several shrimp species now and the driftwood is getting very algae clean, but I dont know which ones do eat the algae, it may be the Japonica shrimps or rednose shrimps).

By the way, fishbowls will never be algae free without using all the chemicals that harm the fish and quality of water. Fishbowls anyway stress the fish and cause bad water conditions.

Algae eaters help but if your tank in the sun or in warm temp they can not keep up. If green now get an algaecide to cut it down. Change 1/4 of the water 1st. Change filter as soon as water is clear.

It's probably algae build up. You can regularly clean the tank and scrub it yourself, or there are fish that you can buy that live on algae. I've always heard them called algae-eaters, but I'm not sure if that's they're actual name.
