I vote for the person who I think will be the best person to head our government. I could care less if they are gay, straight, black, white, male or female.
But I know my opinion is in the minority. Considering the last two elections went to Bush, who keeps trying to pass an amendment to ban gay marriage, I don't think this country is ready for an openly gay president. Or a woman. Or a black person.
It's sad to say, but it's true. If the 18-25 year-old crowd would actually vote for once, things might be different. But as it is, our decisions are made for us by the people who show up to vote every few years. The will of the people will never be known unless the people vote.
So, am I ready for a gay president? Sure. Is America ready? Not a chance.

I live in Providence RI and we have a gay mayor. He is no different then any other mayor we have had. He does not promote his lifestyle and has not changed the city in any way. Why are so many obsessed with whom somebody goes to bed with. Frankly it is none of your business. It is just another form of racism. Hate has become the rallying cry for your failures in life. If you are so worried about a gay President then why don't you run for office and we can just throw the gays out, then we can throw out another minority followed by another until the whole country is just like you. We can change the name of this country to Moranland. I don't care what color you are, what your religion is or your sexual preference ,there is someone on the other side of the fence who hates you the way you hate them. They have nothing to back it up except their stupidity/prejudice which means yes you have something in common with the person you hate.

The day the US recognizes Gay marriage in all 50 states legal, thats when a openly gay president will become reality.....although there are so many closed closet gays or bisexuals already floating in the government so who knows we might already have had one....look at some of the odd sexuality of some of the past presidents....who knows whats behind closed doors.....

Although I have no personal problems with it, I think that the nation is still to paranoid and twitchy for this. Women and/or minority presidents I'm sure we could manage right now, but until extremists in both parties calm down, a Homosexual president will only erode what faith we have left in the Executive.

Since being gay is evidence that his moral values differ significantly from mine, I will never be ready for a gay President. Evaluating a candidate on moral grounds is the only legitimate means to chose one person over another.

I don't think the world is ready for a White House makeover yet. Pink curtains would cause a World War. And don't get me started on the Disco music.

Not going to happen. Even the Dems aren't dumb enough to run a gay Presidential candidate, they know it would spell immediate victory for the Republicans.

If the gay candidate admits that Lawrence v. Texas by the U.S. Supremes was wrong and that Goodridge v. Dept. of Health by the Massachusetts Supremes was wrong, then I'll be for him/her.
