John 3:16 is from the Bible, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in me shall not perish, but shall have everlasting life."

John 3:16 (chapter 3, verse 16) states "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." It's a pretty widely quoted verse, basically saying that Jesus is the way to salvation.

The origins of Austin 3:16 are a little different. Back in 1996, Jake "the Snake" Roberts was on a bit of a religious kick. Quoting scriptures during interviews, saying that his faith is what made him strong, and so forth. Austin abd Roberts met in the finals of King of the Ring '96, where Austin dished out a beating. In his post-match speech, Austin said, "You sit there and you thump your Bible, and you say your prayers, and didn't get you anywhere. Talk about your Psalms, talk about John 3:16...Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your @ss!"

I dunno what Austin 3:16 is (and BTW - that's the correct phrase...), but a while back I saw someone holding a sign saying "Edge 4:20", so I went to the book of Edge (aka Adam Copeland On Edge), opened chapter 4, and 20 was "I guess that's where my shyness come from"... Now - whatever that supoosed to signify is beyond me... LOL
