The only restaurants I know in NC are in Nags Head area from when I lived there. The local non-chain restaurants are fantastic!

Tortuga's Lie is my favorite: For fabulous fresh seafood, sandwiches, and creative dishes, Tortuga's Lie is the absolute best. Their french fries are really good, with cracked black pepper on them. They have fantastic selection of beers there as well!

For dining on the ocean and having a volleyball net ready for play, Quagmires is really good. Great casual atmosphere with good food. Eating on the roof is fun!

For a view of the sunset over the sound, try Windmill Point, Pelican Isle or RV's. My family always enjoyed those places.

For breakfast, Jolly Rogger on the Beach Road up in Kitty Hawk can't be beat. They have extremely unusual decor, with wrapping paper and ornaments hanging on the ceiling, but it's worth it for the breakfasts.

For Pizza, Dare Devil's Pizza is very good! The toppings are fresh and the crust and sauce are great.

The Bonefish Grill. I'm not a big fan of seafood, but they have non-seafood dishes and everything I've tried there is delicious! I especially recommend the Bang Bang Shrimp for an appetizer and the Merryvale “Starmont”, Napa chardonnay.
