Well I've never been to an Abercrombie/Abercrombie & Fitch before and I'm gonna go there for some school clothes this year...but the problem is...I'm scared to go in there because I'm Mexican and it seems like only white people where A&F, (no offense) and would if they look at me weird or something? I'm just wondering, is A&F racist?

I have to agree with one of the "responders" to this question.....they are biased. They have been brought to court on many occasions due to the hiring of only model-type employees. There is "mind set in their stores....being if you look affluent,well-propertioned and attractive you are worthy of their "attention" and help. The bottom line here though is....as far as you going in there to purchase something, whether you are white, black, red, yellow, or green for that matter does not change the fact they want your money.........You seem a little insecure.YOU are just as good as any one else and REMEMBER that......and by the way, A&F are way over-priced, anyway. I could think of a hundred other places to shop for classic and funky clothes ,at far cheaper prices.

Aww I think it's terrible to assume a clothing company is racist. I got hired there for a job and I'm Asian and white. I don't think A&F is racist but I do think they have another problem...they only hire "pretty" or attractive people and like having pretty people wear their clothes. I also think Hollister has this problem because one of my friends couldn't get hired there even though she has experience in retail and was qualified. She lost the job to this bimbo who was underqualified but pretty. But if you like the clothes, then don't listen to what anyone else says and just get them. If the workers there give you a hard time then just tell them to leave you alone. Clothes are clothes people! They'll either look good or bad on people of all different sizes and races. lol.

It's mostly the more privileged white kids who wear their clothes because it's so expensive but also because they seem to care more about brands and looking cool than the clothes themselves. A&F is not racist and they can't do anything to stop you from wearing their clothes but if you don't feel comfortable wearing their logo and feel weird about being a mexican who is wearing them, don't buy them. Their stuff is over-priced and not worth it. You could buy a hideous polo shirt for 39.99 whereas you could get the same thing at Old Navy only cuter and less expensive. Don't worry about it.

Abercrombie & Fitch has been accused of selling racist T shirts, and of racial hiring practices. I didn't find any record of their being accused of racism towards customers (certain restaurants, Denny's I think among them, have been so accused).

Why would a store discrimate against a customer who is presentable and wants to buy?

To some degree these stories are blown out of proportion by class-action lawyers who want to profit from litigation. But you can read the stories and decide for yourself whether the company deserves your business.

Or you can just buy stuff on eBay, paying less for it.

I doubt the whole point of Abercrombie stores is to make skinny people happy but they now have bigger sizes, like abercrombie kids jeans now go up to 16 and maybe even a size bigger. But I do agree that the image of abercrombie targets people with thinner builds because of their models and such

I don't know if they are are not but if you go in there and they are racist, You can have a killer lawsuit on your hands - then you could be wearing all the abercrombie and fitch you want, if you catch my drift. You can always order your clothes online.
Just be proud of your race and heritage, Don't worry about them!

Abercrombie and Fitch is there to make a profit. If you are not going there to steal clothes, they should be fine with you purchasing their product. If you are concerned that only white people wear the product, why would you want to buy it? That's like saying only black people wear Baby Phat or Phat Farm. Clothes are clothes. If you like it, buy it.

I've seen Mexican people wear Abercrombie and Fitch clothing, go ahead and buy clothes there, if people think you're weird, that's thier own fault. :-)

I think feelings like this are what result in only white people wearing the clothes. But if you like it you should go in. If you dress nicely (which I'm assuming you do) and present yourself well, they probably won't care about you ethnicity, just that you want to buy what they sell.
